CHRP Certification Experience
How did you first come across the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) program in the Philippines?
“I came across the CHRP program while I was already working in HR. Since I was handling HR responsibilities, I started looking for ways to improve my knowledge and become more effective in my role. That’s when I discovered CHRP as a certification that could help me build a stronger foundation in HR. To clarify, I did not discover CHRP in Malaysia.”
What made you decide to pursue CHRP certification?
“I decided to pursue CHRP because I wanted to strengthen my knowledge and become more confident in handling HR in a more strategic way. Since I entered HR through experience, I felt it was important to complement my hands-on work with formal training, so I could contribute not just to daily HR tasks but also to broader organizational goals.”
Did a mentor, colleague, or experience push you toward getting certified?
“It was mainly my experience that pushed me. When I was given the opportunity to handle HR tasks, I wanted to do my job well and grow in the field. The trust given to me also motivated me to improve myself, which led me to pursue certification.”
Was there a specific career goal you were aiming for at the time?
“My goal at that time was to grow in HR and become more capable in my role. I wanted to understand HR beyond just the tasks, and be prepared for bigger responsibilities in the future. Taking CHRP was a step toward that goal.”
How has being CHRP-certified changed or improved your career in HR?
“Being CHRP-certified has helped me see HR from a more strategic perspective. It gave me the knowledge and frameworks to connect day-to-day HR work with organizational goals, which has improved how I plan and make decisions in my role.”
Were there opportunities that opened up after your certification?
“After becoming CHRP-certified, I was able to take on more responsibilities that involve planning and improving HR processes. It also gave me credibility when collaborating with management, which led to opportunities to contribute to bigger HR projects.”
What impact did CHRP have on your confidence, knowledge, or credibility in the workplace?
“CHRP boosted my confidence significantly. I feel more equipped to handle HR issues thoughtfully, make strategic recommendations, and communicate effectively with leadership. It also strengthened my credibility among colleagues, because they know my work is backed by professional knowledge and standards.”
How has the CHRP community or network supported your professional development?
“The CHRP community has been a great resource for learning and networking. Interacting with other HR professionals gives me insights into best practices, trends, and innovative approaches that I can apply in my own role.”
In what specific ways has the CHRP certification helped you in your role?
“It helped me structure HR processes more effectively, understand labor laws and policies better, and approach HR problems with a strategic mindset rather than just operationally. It also made me more proactive in identifying ways HR can support business objectives.”
Did it make a difference in your approach to strategic HR work or daily HR operations?
“Yes, it did. On a daily basis, I can manage HR tasks more efficiently, but now I also think about how these tasks impact the organization as a whole. CHRP taught me to balance operational work with strategic planning, ensuring HR contributes to long-term goals, not just day-to-day functions.”
How do you apply the CHRP principles or knowledge in your current job?
“I apply CHRP principles every day by aligning HR tasks with organizational goals. For example, when managing recruitment, employee relations, or performance processes, I make sure decisions are consistent, fair, and strategic. CHRP also helps me handle complex situations with confidence, ensuring policies are followed while keeping employee engagement in mind.”
Would you recommend the CHRP certification to other HR practitioners? Why?
“Absolutely. CHRP provides both practical HR skills and a strategic understanding of the role HR plays in an organization. It’s valuable for anyone who wants to grow in HR whether they’re starting out or already experienced, because it strengthens knowledge, builds credibility, and opens doors for professional growth.”
